Being yourself

Apr 16, 2025

“Sometimes it happens: no matter how hard you try, no matter how much effort you put into fitting in, there are places that simply don’t welcome you, don’t accept you. People who don’t understand you. Groups where you feel like you don’t belong. And that hurts. Rejection, when it comes from outside, tends to hit hard inside. But there’s something important to remember: not all places that exclude you are places you need to be. Not every group that rejects you is a group you should belong to. You are not less valuable because someone has not accepted you. You are not less worthy because someone has not listened to you. Not being recognized does not mean you have nothing to offer. Often, what separates you from certain groups is the same thing that connects you to something more authentic, more free, and more you.
The challenge is not to change yourself to please others or adapt to be accepted. It’s in standing by who you are, even when that doesn’t align with what others expect. Accepting that not everyone will understand you is not giving up; it’s starting to walk with more lightness. Because the more you know yourself, the less you need approval. And the more you respect yourself, the clearer you are about where you deserve to be… and where you don’t.
So don’t shut yourself away in your pain. Use that rejection as a driving force, as motivation, not as a condemnation. Come back to yourself, take care of who you are, strengthen what you love. And keep going. Because your path doesn’t depend on who closes a door on you, but on your decision not to stop moving forward. And what hurt at first will one day be transformed. You realize that you weren’t rejected because of a lack, but because of an excess: you were too honest, too sensitive, too real. What once seemed like a weakness reappears as your strength. What hurt now sustains you.
Then the unexpected happens: you find your place, you recognize your place. Not because you’ve adapted, but because you’ve resisted by being yourself. And believe me, that is your true victory.”
