“Vocational choice based exclusively on economic criteria weakens the meaning of existence, while an orientation based on the integration of conviction, talent and purpose generates a lasting inner strength. The will, without authentic direction, dissipates.
Each person possesses an irreplaceable uniqueness. What may seem like a defect can be a source of meaning. Authenticity is achieved through a continuous process of fidelity to one’s own being, which requires assuming responsibility for what has been received before any conscious decision is made. Being oneself implies resisting the conformist pressure of the environment and transforming abilities into valuable actions. Adversity comes both from external obstacles and from the voices that try to invalidate uniqueness. Giving in to them is the same as renouncing one’s own identity. Achieving what others can only imagine requires greater effort, discipline and persistence. The full attempt, even if unsuccessful, has a dignity that surpasses any superficial achievement.
In the face of skepticism, consistency of life is the most legitimate form of response. Authentic traces, however discreet, endure. In a world marked by a loss of meaning, daring to try is a lucid affirmation. Being true to true desire does not ensure success, but it does ensure a meaningful life.”
